Rihanna revealed her big new acting gig in a video uploaded to Bates Motel’s official Twitter account on July 22, telling fans that she’ll be taking on the iconic role of Marion Crane.
Though we don’t know too many more details about what’s ahead for Rihanna just yet, Bates Motel executive producer Carlton Cuse teased to TV Line before Rihanna was cast there’s some big things ahead for the singer.
Earlier this year, Carlton described Bates Motel’s fifth and final season as being “our version of the Psycho lore.”
“We will be colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film but it would be boring to just recreate Psycho,” Carlton continued, hinting that fans of the original Alfred Hitchcock film can expect some surprises in the TV adaptation.
As for Rihanna’s role, Carlton also teased to the site back in May that Marion will have “a big moment.”
