DJ Khaled’s newest single Wild Thoughts could launch in the top 10 on next week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated July 8). The song features Rihanna and Bryson Tiller and is from Khaled’s new album, Grateful, released on June 23. Following its first full week of activity, industry forecasters suggest that Wild Thoughts, released along with its official video last Friday (June 16), could sell around 100,000 downloads in the tracking week ending June 22, likely arriving as the week’s No. 2-selling song (below Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s Despacito, featuring Justin Bieber).
When finalized streaming (perhaps more than 30 million U.S. streams in the week ending June 22) and radio airplay (more than 35 million in all-format audience in the week ending June 25) are added to the mix, Wild Thoughts could arrive in the Hot 100’s top 10. (The chart blends U.S. streaming, airplay and sales data.)
If Wild Thoughts debuts in the Hot 100’s top 10, it would mark Rihanna’s 31st top 10, a sum third only to Madonna’s record 38 and The Beatles’ 34.
Wild Thoughts which samples Santana’s Maria Maria, a 10-week Hot 100 No. 1 in 2000, already soared in at No. 1 on the real-time Billboard + Twitter Trending 140 chart just after its release.
