Stars stay hush on Rihanna

To no one’s surprise, neither Rihanna or Chris Brown, who were each nominated at the 40th NAACP Image Awards, attended the ceremony Thursday night at the Shrine Auditorium. Brown and Rihanna canceled appearances at Sunday’s Grammy Awards after news broke about Brown’s involvement in an assault on a woman the previous night. Police have not identified the woman, but Brown, 19, was seen leaving a pre-Grammy gala Saturday with Rihanna, 20, before the suspected assault. Rosario Dawson, a best actress winner for her role in the film Seven Pounds, took the opportunity to speak out against domestic violence. “I’m on the board of V-Day which is about stopping violence against women and children. If anything good can come out of this, hopefully it’s that this conversation will come forward, because we should not tolerate that kind of behavior. There are no excuses for it at all.
