Rihanna is going to receive another special honor this month. She will be awarded the President’s Award during the 51st NAACP Image Awards.

The NAACP Image Awards announced the recipient today (February 4). In their official release they wrote they are awarding Rihanna for her:

“groundbreaking career as an artist and musician, but (someone who) has also distinguished herself as a stellar public servant.”

The 51st NAACP Image Awards will take place on February 22, just two days after Rihanna’s 32nd birthday. It will air live on BET from Pasadena, California.

Rihanna has been nominated for the NAACP Image Awards 7 times so far and won her first award in 2018 for Loyalty – her Grammy-winning collaboration with Kendrick Lamar.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson said that Rihanna:

“epitomizes the type of character, grace and devotion to justice” that the organization seeks to highlight.”

The President’s Award was previously given to Muhammad Ali, Jay-Z, Spike Lee, Donald Glover and many other prominent personas.

Back in 2017 Rihanna received Harvard’s Humanitarian of the Year Award. The same year she was also honored at Parsons School of Design Benefit. She was also supposed to receive a honorary doctorate from University of the West Indies Cave Hill but unfortunately, could not make it.
