Rihanna slays in red at the Valerian premiere in London

Read Time:1 minutes

Rihanna may be known for her boundary pushing style–glittery Gucci bodysuits, outsize Matthew Adams Dolan denim, and under the radar designer finds abound within her expansive wardrobe–but every so often she chooses a look with timeless appeal. Case in point, the red Giambattista Valli couture gown she wore yesterday for Valerian’s London premiere. With its empire waist and yards of fabric, the voluminous shape nodded to regency-era finery–Joséphine de Beauharnais would be proud–while embracing modernity. And by displaying her shoulder tattoo and décolletage, she projected her signature bad gal confidence and undeniable sex appeal.

Rihanna gave her crowds of fans a glamour moment, adding a touch of sparkle with oversize Chopard earrings, a matching watch, and coordinating cocktail ring. She then kept the monochromatic theme going with a vivid lip color and rose-covered Jimmy Choo clutch, delivering a look that is destined to land on the inspiration boards of other celebrities–just what you’d expect from a fashion queen. For the after party she rocked a silky silver dress.
