While fans keep clamoring for new music, it seems that Rihanna isn’t done with her side quests just yet. The “Diamond” hitmaker was recently announced as the new face of Dior’s “J’Adore” perfume.
Per Dior Beauty’s official Instagram account: “Parfums Christian Dior is truly delighted to welcome icon Rihanna, whose wide-ranging talents, remarkable beauty and universal appeal now embody the world of J’adore.” The statement ran alongside a photo of the superstar dressed in all black by Dior’s Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri.
In a brand statement released to WWD, the Bajan music and beauty mogul expressed excitement for her new appointment: “The scent that I have known and loved for so long means so much to women. I am especially looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity.”
Rihanna succeeds “Mad Max: Furiosa” actress Charlize Theron, who had fronted the luxury fragrance’s campaigns for two decades. Theron’s partnership with the fashion house stays on, though; she will remain as the Paris-based brand’s skincare and jewelry ambassador.
The Dior ambassadorship marks another milestone in Rihanna’s growing influence in the beauty world. The “Work” songstress already has the ultra successful Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin on her belt.
A first look of Rihanna’s debut campaign, shot by longtime Dior collaborator Steven Klein, had the singer dripped in gold wearing a choker necklace, a staple in most of the perfume’s previous campaigns. The full blown ads will be unveiled on September 1.
