Rihanna may be piping albums out at a rapid pace, considering she hasn’t taken a break in years, but that formula is working out for her in the UK. According to the Official Charts Company, Rihanna not only has three top selling R&B/Hip Hop Singles of 2011 but the year’s best selling R&B/Hip Hop albums overall.
Revealing the final R&B/Hip Hop Songs tally Friday, the OCC places Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In The World)” (no.19), “What’s My Name ?” (no.11) and “S&M” in the top 20. The latter, “S&M,” ends up being her best selling single, coming in just behind “On The Floor” by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull at no.2.
This distinction for Rihanna isn’t necessarily surprising, considering her recent 2 billion views accumulated on Vevo and the success of “We Found Love”. As such, Rihanna’s “Loud” and “Talk That Talk” have been branded the top selling R&B/Hip Hop Albums of 2011, respectively.
