Rihanna has revealed that she has not finished work on her new album but promises she will deliver “something great” for fans eager to hear new music.
Speculation has been rife about the singer’s forthcoming album, with singles ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ and ‘American Oxygen’ both released earlier this year, as was her collaboration with Kanye West and Paul McCartney, ‘FourFiveSeconds’.
Speaking to NME for the cover feature of the all-new free magazine, distributed in more than 500 locations on Friday, September 18, Rihanna is asked for a status update on the album fans have dubbed ‘R8’ in the absence of any concrete information.
“It’s not done!” she says. “To me it’s never done until it’s done. Until the final moment.”
She knows fans are waiting on the album though. Joking about the situation she says:
“No matter what I post online, within three comments there’s somebody saying, ‘Where is ‘R8’?’ I could post anything. Nothing else matters. They don’t care about anything but that. But it makes me excited, because I can’t wait to give them something great.”
