Chris Brown and Rihanna brought their co-headlining tour, and rumoured romantic pairing, to Melbourne last night, with a show that hit all the right buttons. The pair closed their sold out Rod Laver Arena show last night making beautiful music together, turning Rihanna’s No. 1 hit Umbrella into a duet. On her last Australian tour two years ago, Rihanna was still a work in progress – only a handful of hits and some questioned her commitment to live vocals. Now she’s arguably the biggest pop star in the world, with her Good Girl Gone Bad album spawning no less than seven hit singles. This tour befits a global pop star: full live vocals and a surprisingly rocking live band. Her risque skin-tight outfit even resembles Cher’s costume from the I Could Turn Back Time video. Aside from hits Don’t Stop the Music, Shut-up and Drive, and SOS Rihanna mixed in a credible cover of MIA’s Paper Planes and a burst of the White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army in her own hit Disturbia. Rihanna and Chris Brown perform their last Melbourne show at Rod Laver Arena tonight. – News.com.au/heraldsun
