Ocean’s 8, starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna and Awkafina, earned a strong $41.5 million in its debut weekend and tops US Box Office. That gives it a decent 2.63x multiplier and the top debut weekend for the Ocean’s franchise.
The Warner Bros./Time Warner Inc. film played 69% female and 69% over 25, with audiences giving it a B+ Cinemascore grade but those under-18 giving it an A.
The $42 million launch was Rihanna’s second-biggest behind Home, Bullock’s third-biggest opening weekend behind Minions and Gravity, Blanchett’s 11th-biggest Fri-Sun launch, Hathaway’s fifth-biggest debut, Carter’s tenth-biggest launch, Kaling’s fifth-biggest debut and a personal best for Paulson and Awkwafina.
