Kendrick Lamar’s Loyalty., featuring Rihanna, lifts 2-1 on the Rhythmic Songs airplay chart (dated Sept. 30). The collaboration gains by 5 percent in spins in the week ending Sept. 17, according to Nielsen Music.
With the move, Kendrick collects his second No. 1 hit on the chart among 17 entries to date. His previous leader also came this year, with Humble. leading for three weeks in June.
Rihanna, meanwhile, knocks herself out of No. 1 as Loyalty. unseats DJ Khaled’s Wild Thoughts, which features the superstar alongside Bryson Tiller, after an eight-week command. Ironically, the last self-replacement at the pinnacle, which occurred a little more than one year ago, also involved Rihanna and DJ Khaled. On Sept. 10, 2016, Drake’s Too Good, featuring Rihanna, began the first of six ruling frames by bumping DJ Khaled’s For Free, which featured Drake, from the penthouse after three weeks.
One last Rihanna-Drake connection: Loyalty. gives Rihanna her 16th No. 1 on Rhythmic Songs, second only to Drake’s 19 among all acts.
