Two superstars. One Monster concert event.

Eminem and Rihanna bring their “Monster” tour to Comerica Park Friday and Saturday. It’s one of the biggest concert events of the summer: The dynamic duo only played three cities on the tour, and the two Detroit shows (which follow concerts in Pasadena, California, and East Rutherford, New Jersey) close out the short six-date pairing.

Hometown superstar Eminem hasn’t played Detroit since he linked up with Jay Z for back-to-back shows at Comerica Park in 2010, and his concert dates in the time since have been mostly festival appearances.

Expected attendance at the shows is 45,000 per night, second only this summer to last weekend’s One Direction blockbusters, which brought roughly 50,000 fans per night next door to Ford Field.

Expect both artists to present career-spanning sets of 20 songs each, and to come together for about 10 songs, adding up to a massive set list of around 50 songs.

For Rihanna, who has performed shows at Joe Louis Arena, The Palace of Auburn Hills and DTE Energy Music Theatre, these mark the biggest Detroit shows of her career. But Eminem has been doing stadium business in Detroit since he headlined Ford Field for back-to-back nights in 2003.

Eminem and Rihanna: The ‘Monster’ tour

  • 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • Comerica Park, 2100 Woodward, Detroit
  • Tickets $89.50-$250  – (313) 983-6606
