Romantically linked or not, when Chris Brown and Rihanna team up in a musical sense, they pack a powerhouse punch. Not wanting to be upstaged, Rihanna began her set from the lofty heights of the Entertainment Centre roof also, alighting from a towering podium and singing hit single Disturbia which was written for her by Brown. Clad in leather and lace, Rihanna may have danced less than Brown but what she omitted in movement she made up for in attitude. While Brown may have preferred a pure RnB sound, Rihanna favoured an RnB/rock hybrid that allowed for plenty of thrashing around and air guitar solos. She even introduced guitar riffs from The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army and performed an M.I.A. cover to mix things up a little and cement the rock feel. Running through her catalogue of hits at breakneck speed Rihanna slowed the tempo to perform slower hits Good Girl Gone Bad, Hate That I Love You and Unfaithful. Finishing her set with upbeat number Shut Up And Drive, the diminutive singer from Barbados didn’t make the screaming audience wait long for an encore, beginning with Take A Bow.
