Rihanna will not receive honorary degree this year
UPDATE: Rihanna is no longer eligible to receive the honorary doctorate from University of the West Indies Cave Hill because she is not able to accept it personally on October 20th. Her management conveyed that she was unable to commit to receiving the honorary degree this year because of scheduling commitments. University’s tradition mandates that honorary graduands to be present to accept this honour.
Rihanna is known for her fight for equal rights to education and this October she will be honored by an University herself. The University of the West Indies Cave Hill (UW) will award her with a honorary degree alongside Justice Adrian Dudley Saunders and Professor Ebenezer Oduru Owusu. Rihanna will be honored with an Honorary Doctor of Letters. The awards are given to people recognized for their eminence in the arts, sciences and other fields. Also those who make outstanding regional or international contribution are often awarded. The ceremony will take place on October 20 at the Cave Hill’s campus in Barbados.
