Shakira talks about Rihanna with Ryan SeacrestJanuary 13, 2014 \
The songstress reveals that when it came to collaborating with RiRi she was nervous at first that it wouldn’t be able to happen.
“We’re both from the Caribbean, so I always thought we had this common ground and this song is pretty reggae, but it also has that rock attitude that I think Rihanna has, so that’s why I thought she was the natural choice for collaboration on this record, but I also thought it was a little bit of a challenge to get her to record this track because she’s so busy,” Shakira admits. ”I honestly thought it’d never happen, but I said, ‘I’m going to send it to her and see what happens.’ And she heard the record and she loved it and she said she was on board and I was the happiest girl alive!”
The Voice coach explains the hit new track
“is about that guy that gets under your skin that you can’t leave alone and I think that every woman has been through that …we can relate … but this song is not exactly a reflection of my life right now.”
