To sate your Riri appetite until you make it to the shops, we’re giving you an exclusive first peek at the beauty related part of the interview.

With Rihanna’s much anticipated and already wildly popular Fenty Beauty range having launched on September 8, she’s well placed to talk about everything make-up. Here she discusses her love of highlighter, her beauty idol and the lipstick that got her in trouble.

Q. When was the first time you wore lipstick?

Lipstick always got me in trouble. Whether it was at home as a kid, or my early teenage years in my career, I always had the urge to wear it. So I broke all those rules. Now lipstick is like my li’l secret weapon!

Q. What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done or tried in the name of beauty? Would you do it again?

A corset! I’d do it again, though. I’d wear it every day if I could make it out alive!

Q What makes you feel dressed-up, when it comes to beauty?

My finishing touch is usually my highlighter. I love highlighter—it just adds this sense of fantasy to any look.

Q: Of all the celebrities you’ve met, who smells the best?

[Photographers] Inez [van Lamsweerde] and Vinoodh [Matadin]! Inez smells delicious. She actually gifted me her scent, because I always asked her about it.

Q: Who’s your hair idol?

This is probably confusing to most, but it’s in between Toni Braxton from back in the day with all her short haircuts…and Cindy Crawford. She had the most effortless yet stunning hair.

Q: Who’s your makeup idol?

For makeup, I have to go with Veruschka. She made makeup look like silk!

The October 2017 issue of ELLE hits the newsstands on September 19, don’t miss your chance to pick up a copy.
