Rihanna Earns 25th No. 1 on Dance Club Songs Chart

Rihanna, featured on Calvin Harris’ This Is What You Came For, rules Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart (dated July 9) as the song rises 2-1. It’s her 25th No. 1, and maintains her second-place ranking on the list of the acts with the most No. 1s of all time.

This Is What You Came For is her second No. 1 of 2016, once again extending her lead over Beyonce (22 toppers) while only trailing Madonna (46) for the most No. 1s in the chart’s nearly 40-year history. Back on April 23 Rihanna lead with “Work,” featuring Drake.

As for Harris, This Is What You Came For is his fourth No. 1. His first topper came with his previous collaboration with Rihanna, We Found Love, in November 2011 (where credit was reversed, as Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris).

While official remixes from Dillon Francis, Grandtheft, and R3hab x Henry Fong were serviced to club DJs recently, it’s notable that This Is What You Came For hit the top of Dance Club Songs mainly on the strength of its original versions, without the aid of remixes.

In addition to topping Dance Club Songs, This Is What You Came For also goes No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (rising 2-1), returns to the top on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs (2-1), and continues to lead Dance/Mix Show Airplay (for a fourth week). Harris and Rihanna’s song also came within a hair of hitting No. 1 on the overall Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, capturing a Greatest Gainer hat trick of Airplay, Digital, and Streaming honors. (The chart blends airplay, sales and streaming data.)

According to Nielsen Music, This Is What You Came For amassed 92 million all-format radio audience impressions in the week ending June 26 (up nine percent), sold 87,000 digital downloads in the week ending June 23 (up 26 percent), and collected 16 million U.S. streams in the frame ending June 23 (up 62 percent). The song is also up a spot, into the top five, on the Billboard Hot 100 (6-5).

Dating to the Dance Club Songs chart’s Aug. 28, 1976, inception as a national survey, here’s an updated look at the acts with the most No. 1s:
