“Diamonds” becomes Rihanna’s 19th number 1 single on “Dance/Club Play Songs” chart
Published by: · Date: 2012/12/04 · Filed Under: News

With “Diamonds” topping the tally, Rihanna and Jackson trail only Madonna for the most number 1s in the chart’s 36-year history.

With the rise of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” to number 1 on Billboard’s “Dance/Club Play Songs” chart, the singer scores her sparkling 19th leader on the tally.

The achievement ties her with Janet Jackson for the second-most number 1s in the chart’s 36-year history. Only Madonna has more (43). Beyoncé trails with 18 leaders, followed by Mariah Carey and Kristine W, each with 16.

“Diamonds” reaches number 1 courtesy of uptempo remixes by the likes of Bimbo Jones, Shahaf Moran, Dave Aude and Gregor Salto. The lead single from “Unapologetic”, which last week became Rihanna’s first “Billboard 200″ number 1, has spent the past two weeks atop the “Billboard Hot 100″.
