High-pitched screams echoed around the Burswood Dome as R&B megastars Rihanna and Chris Brown belted out their hits for Perth audiences last night. Reviewer Marisa Aveling said the very young crowd of mainly teenage girls wearing high heels were spellbound by the spectacular set design, dancing and singing of both artists. During Rihanna’s set, Brown surprised her by appearing on stage wearing a mask and blonde wig with lipstick circles around his nipples and “I love Perth” written on his chest.

Reviewer Marisa Aveling said the very young crowd of mainly teenage girls wearing high heels were spellbound by the spectacular set design, dancing and singing of both artists. Aveling said Brown received the most screams as he bumped and grinded his way topless around the stage. During Rihanna’s set, Brown surprised her by appearing on stage wearing a mask and blonde wig with lipstick circles around his nipples and “I love Perth” written on his chest. “That sent the crowd wild because we obviously knew it was him because he had spent most of his set topless so we all knew his tattoos,” Ms Aveling said. “Rihanna seemed to have a dominatrix theme and during one of her three costume changes came out with a cat-o-nine-tails whip, so it was all very sexy.” Despite insisting they are ‘just friends’, Ms Aveling said Rihanna and Brown were unconvincing as they cast sly smiles and flirted during their time on stage together. “It certainly appeared they were an item,” she said. “Towards the end of the show he went in to kiss her and she pulled back. The audience was screaming ‘kiss’.” The concert ended with glitter exploding from the stage and the two artists disappearing down stairs. The Perth show was the last of Rihanna and Brown’s Australian tour.
